Moving to Thailand

I spent most of my career studying cold-water ecosystems along the coast of Northern Scotland. The work was fascinating, but the weather and isolation eventually pushed me to look for a new chapter somewhere warmer and more diverse in terms of marine life.

Thailand naturally became the top choice. After a few research trips to the Andaman Sea, I realized I wanted to live closer to the environments I was studying. Finding a long-term place to stay seemed complicated at first, but exploring options on https://thailand-real.estate/ made the process surprisingly manageable. I ended up choosing a small house near Krabi, close to the coastline and mangrove forests.

Now, I collaborate with local conservation teams, document coral restoration projects, and spend nearly every morning out on the water. The biodiversity here is incredible, and the locals are genuinely supportive of scientific work.

Life has become a blend of research, exploration, and quiet seaside living—the perfect balance I didn’t know I needed.
